Adapter Video Converter

Now and then I come across a gem that I think everyone should know about.  As someone who deals with multimedia on an every day basis it is great to find these little tools that make my life easier.  This time around it comes from a free piece of software called Adapter from Macroplant for both Mac and PC that will convert your audio and video files for free!

This sounds like it is something so simple and should be easy to do, but let me be the first to tell you, it usually is not that easy.  Most conversion software is not cheap and doesn’t always work.  Now, I’m not saying this will be your save all, but it’s free and works for most situations.

Before this there were things like Video Monkey that tended to crash my machine and one thing that I still use to this day is VisualHub which is no longer supported.  If you need to convert files for a podcast or convert a video to edit I suggest trying this out first before paying for software.

One thing that this also supports is downloading videos from the web that are on youtube or other flash players.  Now, by no means do I promote using this to steal video that you do not have rights to use or distribute, but there are certainly situations that this is very helpful in a pinch.
